The Cleveland Cavaliers are in an enviable position.
If the blockbuster deal goes through, they’ll have a point guard in Isaiah Thomas who is coming off a year where he outperformed Kyrie Irving (with a substantial amount) during the regular season.
If the hip of the new acquisition remains debatable, LeBron James is going to be able to withstand more responsibilities, while Kevin Love and Jae Crowder team up to maintain the 2016 champions. Let’s not overlook the impact of adding Ante Zizic as frontcourt depth.
If the trade is vetoed due to Thomas’ health, the Cavaliers will soldier on with a malcontent Irving or find a new taker for the point protector. They’ll remain filled with talent.
This offseason will be deemed a failure if they can’t find a huge yield for Irving–and the Thomas swap certainly qualifies as such–since fixing their main difficulty (defense) was not just done with the additions of Derrick Rose, Jose Calderon and Jeff Green. But they could still score with aplomb, and that will make them favorites.
Because his age swells james doesn’t appear to have diminished whatsoever. Love enjoys chemistry than ever and Tristan Thompson is just advancing. This may be an old roster, however it’s one and most of the pieces fit together well.
