Months before the season starts, we know a minumum of one player who will not match up for Week 1.
Cowboys tight end Rico Gathers has been suspended without pay to its match of their regular season for violating the NFL’s policy and application on materials of misuse, per the Tom Pelissero of NFL Network and NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. The team confirmed the suspension.
The breach came as a consequence of his 2018 arrest for misdemeanor marijuana possession.
Gathers can take part in the team’s offseason and preseason games and practices. He could go back to the active roster on Monday, Sept. 9 after the season opener.
Since being drafted by Dallas at the sixth round of their 2016 NFL Draft, gathers has fought on the area. He has only three career catches in 15 games.
