No, the Los Angeles Lakers shouldn’t just be dismissed to win the 2019-20 NBA championship since they have their own star duo that may match the Clippers in LeBron James and Anthony Davis. (Side note: How mad are Clippers-Lakers games likely to be next season?)
Can it actually mean that the Lakers have to attempt now to win the title? Sure, but that will be easier said than done after sitting on their hands for many of free service while anticipating Kawhi Leonard’s decision.
The Lake Show’s supporting cast is a skip fire in comparison to what the Staples Center roommates can put on the court and unless you will find far more veteran buyouts to come on board to the purple and gold (ahem, Andre Iguodala), the reality is that even with LeBron and the Brow, they’re just outgunned.
I would not touch them at +400 to win the title and I really don’t feel bad for some of those suckers who took them at +185 with some sportsbooks when it was projected that they were becoming Kawhi too.
